Sweet Wife came home from her "mandatory" meeting in collage town with this little item. When you go to many of these sorts of events you are showered with all sorts of nick-knacks designed to grab you attention. This particular item is advertised as a chocolate scented pencil made from recycled paper. The tag-line is something like "saving trees one pencil at a time". You will note that this great "green" product comes in an attractive plastic case to keep the lovely chocolate scent (I'm certain the scent is organic) fresh and available. Do I need to point out the irony here or is it as obvious to everyone as it was to me?

irony deep and wide! not unlike sarcasism in this crowd. The don't work very well either---very hard to sharpen.
Ah the plastic coated pencils that gum up the pencil sharpners to the point they can't sharpen. I thougt plastic wasn't recycable(sic). Oh well as long as the pencil smells good I guess the environmentalists will feel good.
It seems ironic to me! What were they thinking? Please do not insult my intelligence!
There are at least 6 different types of recyclable plastics. I know this because I now have a blue trash can for recyclable materials. However only 2 of them are recyclable (1), (2) are acceptable to recycle. It is kind of fun to see what I can put in the blue can, to be reused. The "green"n pencil needs to have a warning on it to prevent people from using it altogether, thus saving the earth from unnecessary global warming.
