Grappeling Sparkey

We just got back from Sparky's wrestling matches. They grouped the kids in fours and had them wrestle each other once. Sparky had the "privilege" of having the high school wrestling coach's son in his group. This is the coach that was awarded the coach of the year in our state for 4A. He fought a good fight but came up a little short on each match and was awarded the fourth place medal. He had a good time and got to run around with his buddies for about 45 minutes before the matches started so I think he had a good time. He has been wanting to be in a tournament for some time and doesn't like the practices as much as the matches. He doesn't know many moves but he does know to try to stay off his back and has learned the move to roll over when someone is on top of him. Once again I was treated to a display of parents living through their kids. I suppose I would be more into having him wrestle if my own experience with wrestling had been better. Sorry, no pictures but Wife thought I had the camera and I hoped that she would bring it. I don't know if we will go to any other tournaments because they are all several hours away and I can't see spending the time, money or effort to go. I also can't see spending $50. on a singlet and wrestling shoes that he would wear two or three times but there are lots of parents who don't have the slightest problem buying an outfit and traveling around the countryside going to wrestling tournaments "for the kids".
Middle school track starts Monday so Wife and Holl will be wrapped up in that until nearly Memorial day and high school track started last Monday so Linc is busy as well.

Ad's starts baseball. Last weekend during the freezing cold he had to go to try-outs. They group all of the 9 year olds together and then make them hit the ball and also field the ball while the coaches watch. Then they will be "Drafted" so to speak. We'll see what happens.
