For a few days now I've been thinking about all the wise things that has been communicated to us in song. Sure you may say that rock songs are bad and evil but if you listen hard and try to see the deeper meaning you will realize that you may have been right in the first place. Here are a few of the nuggets of wisdom that I have learned over the years.
- When you choose not to decide you still have made a choice. -Rush-
- All your money won't another minute buy. -Kansas-
- Feed your head. -Jefferson Airplane-
- What a fool believes no wise man has the power to reason away. -Doobie Brothers-
- Nothing ever goes as planned. -Styx-
- Life goes on long after the thrill of living is gone. -John Cougar Mellencamp-
- Does anybody really now what time it is? -Chicago-
- It's better to burn out than fade away. -Def Leopard-
- Get up, stand up, stand up for your rights. -Bob Marley-
- You can't always get what you want but if you try some time you get what you need. -Rolling Stones-
- Two out of three ain't bad. -meatloaf-
- I've got dozens of friends and the fun never ends, that is as long as I'm buying. -Styx-
- Daddy's all right, Mommy's all right they just seem a little weird. -Cheap Trick-
- I'm schizophrenic and so am I. -Styx-

Styx seems to have a monopoly on wise sayings. How about "Mama may have, and Papa may have, but God bless the child that's got his own." and "What goes up must come down, spinning wheel got to go 'round" by Blood Sweat and Tears. ?
I knew that I would miss many sayings and yes Styx does seem to have lots of wise things to say.
How about RUSH 'Limelight' for those who strive for or dream of celebrity and the honor of man, but must face reality if they obtain their goal.
Living on a lighted stage
Approaches the unreal
For those who think and feel
In touch with some reality
Beyond the gilded cage.
Cast in this unlikely role,
Ill-equipped to act,
With insufficient tact,
One must put up barriers
To keep oneself intact.
Living in the Limelight,
The universal dream
For those who wish to seem.
Those who wish to be
Must put aside the alienation,
Get on with the fascination,
The real relation,
The underlying theme.
Living in a fisheye lens,
Caught in the camera eye.
I have no heart to lie,
I can't pretend a stranger
Is a long-awaited friend.
All the world's indeed a stage,
And we are merely players,
Performers and portrayers,
Each another's audience
Outside the gilded cage.
Caught in the gilded cage of popularity. Forced to live a life not of your own anymore.
