We got a new stake Presidency today. I had a bit of a problem (personality clash) with the old councilor but had the feeling that the new presidency would also have a person in it that I would have to set aside personal prejudices to sustain. Well here they are:
President Mark Taylor (Linc's present head basketball coach and Wife's sort of boss)
1st councilor Corey Miles (I grew up with him)
2nd councilor Kelly Toleman (no big surprise there)
Wife predicted the two councilors but not the president. I will have to trust in the Lord and examine my own live to fully accept out new president. (There was one no vote at the sustaining... not mine.) I have no personal reason to dislike him but have observed a tendency toward pride in him. I suppose it's something I must work out for myself.

I know what you mean. I have had several bishops whose wife I had problems dealing with. They were good men and did a good job I just had some issues I had to work through. For some reason I have a hard time with most of the bishop wives/families I've had through the years. (You may or may not remember Bishop Bagley, I got along great with him, it was his wife and daughter I had trouble with) Sometimes it is nothing more than just personality clashes and maybe it is more of the said called leader that needs the calling. Good Luck and you will find something good from all of this. Call it a trial of your faith if you will.
I concur! I also have a small problem with 2 of them, but like you say, it's my problem not theirs. And so in small ways our faith gets tested. (sigh)
It's a problem I have with a lot of the Ward people, but I've made the effort to just not let it bug me and boy once I made that decision, my life felt better anyway. It's hard to say if it is better, but it seems that way.
I had a problem with a Bishop once. I had been getting some financial help from the previous Bishop. He came along and he was an account and so he decided to interview me. He decided that I didn't need it and accused me of stealing from the church because I was getting help from the Ward. Well I never spoke to him again. I also swore that I never would again ask for help from the Church. I hadn't asked for it at that time, the other Bishop had offered it and I accepted it.That was just before I got the job at BYU. I did not misinterpret him because that is exactly what he said. I have not ever asked for help again either. The Lord has watched over me ever since, and I am now doing well. na na nana.
Leadership callings can't be filled by only perfect people. Otherwise we would have "very few called and none chosen". With all the problems & issues I had growing up because of "good" church members I wouldn't be active today if I didn't seperate their choices (free agency) and church doctrine (not that I am very close to perfection myself). If callings went out by popularity we would have an Obama like figure running the Church.
