G-man at it again

G-man saw a "cat tree" at his cousin Ash's house and decided that Sterling needed one too. He cut some boards and had me help him screw them together. He designed the thing but needed me to help with the execution of the plan. Sterling seems to enjoy the thing.

Wife is very close to giving birth. I don't think she will make it to the 7th. but you never know.

Bye bye 486

The computer, the kid, the tools of destruction.
The cover is off!

The investigation begins!

I gave G-man our old computer with a screwdriver and a pair of pliers with only one rule. Clean up after you are done. I am going to have to enforce that rule tomorrow.

FHE

.
These are pictures that we drew for FHE. You take a piece of paper and fold it in three like a business letter. Then someone draws a head with the neck extending to the fold and just past it so that when the paper is turned over only the lines that indicate the neck are visible. Then you pass it to someone else who draws a body with the legs extending past the next fold like with the neck. Refold the paper so that the head is hidden and turn it over and hand it to someone else who draws the legs. When that is done unfold the paper and admire the results.
First day of fall in SV
Wife and I are back from Casper. It was an interesting trip. Her fellow classmates were amazed that she was having her fifth child. I learned some things on this trip.
  • Not all towns are laid out in neat squares.
  • Not all malls have more than one book store.
  • Even the biggest Wyoming towns are still Wyoming towns.
  • There is lots of room left in this world.
  • Pregnant women are very tough.
  • There are some very responsible teenagers in this world.
  • Cars tend to travel in packs.
  • Young girls at malls tend to travel in packs.
  • Not all collages have book stores.
  • "Sweetie" is a common term of endearment used by Eastern Wyoming waitresses.
  • Rabbits don't understand what a car is.
  • Wyoming drivers are always surprised to see another driver on their road.
  • All scenery is the same in the dark.
I'm just watching a clip of Algore spouting about global "climate change" at the UN. I'm also looking out the window at a typical fall day in SV. I personally would welcome if not global then local worming. I had something very important to post but I can't think of it right now. Niece K posted something about the five senses and I thought that I would try and copy it (more or less) so here goes.
  • I am hearing: a really bad cover of an Archies tune "If you want it" to try and sell cars.
  • I am seeing: a local news station trying to get a dog adopted.
  • I am smelling: the soda crackers I have recently eaten.
  • I am tasting: the same crackers.
  • I am feeling: a small pain in my back because this chair doesn't have a back.

Niece L, G-man will order you some snicker doodle cookie dough and you can repay us when you're up next month.

Pi-man, We still haven't gotten Loges' birthday present, sorry, we are rather lame in that respect.

Niece K, hope the job hunting/wage hike goes well for you.

two girls

Sparky drew this of two of his class mates. The one on the left is nice. The one on the right chases people and bites them. I like the designs on their shirts.

DON"T OPEN THE DOOR!

It's that time of year. Small mobile bands of marauding tweeners are menacing the environs of our defenceless little village and alas, our own precious G-man is swept up in the wave of miniature humanity mercilessly knocking on unsuspecting home owner's doors. G-man's school is sending out their diminutive minions to sell the dreaded cookie dough. The reason is to pry money from little old ladies who would take years to eat three pounds of cookie dough if they eat it at all. The promise of some two dollar gee-whizz-got-to-have-that doodad is fueling this pestilence on our fair city. This is supposed to pay for the kids to go skiing/snowboarding this winter. G-man needs to sell at least 4 items to pay for his ticket and it takes twelve sold items to get the gee-whizz-got-to-have-that doodad. BEWARE, all ye relatives that live within half an hour of our house!
We now have seven goldfish and a scum sucker fish. We will see how they survive.

Car house

Today was "clean out the garage" day. This was mostly inspired by two things. Linc was extremely ashamed of the junk pile that was the garage and he wanted to get Oggie (my VeeDub Thing) somewhat dug out so he could dream of getting it running for the cool factor of driving it to school, when he can actually drive. I should have gotten a "before" picture but wasn't thinking fast enough for that.
Wife is back from her trip to "the friendly ghost" town. We will need to go again on Thursday for her graduate school. Wife got a scholarship for half of this semesters tuition. That was nice to see.
The days are being counted down to the arrival of "leenie". My mom is sore amazed at Wife and what she is doing. I reminded her that she (mom) did much the same thing and she said "I did not, all I ever did while I was pregnant was cook for hay men." I rest my case.

Thursday night lights

Well #82 and the rest of the Freshmen won their first game tonight. It was 34-24 against Rich County, UT. Rich played their Sophomores too and they still only had sixteen players. I suppose they got worn down running up and down the field. The game was supposed to start at 6:00 but they were late because they had to drop off their Volleyball team in Montpelier then they got going to Kemmerer instead of SV. Grandma W. came to the game and left at halftime with the other kids and Wyo Sis had some sort of book club thing so I was the only one for the last half of the game routing on #82. He had some good chances at catching the ball but his best chance resulted in the opposing player hacking his arm and drawing a pass interference call for fifteen yards. Coincidentally that was about how far he was down the field. He didn't really do anything super spectacular but was a solid player and gave as good as he got. The next home game is Oct. 12, I think.

Sick and Tired

The family has been sick, well much of the family anyway. G-man first, had the "skip-to-my-loo's" and really bad breath. Then Holl got it and through up and nearly fainted just walking down stairs to bed. Now it's my turn. I've had "rotten egg" burps for several days and I can't get too far from a bathroom; in fact last night I think I visited the reading room a total of six times between around 9:00 PM and 4:00 AM. I decided to call in sick today and see if I can't get over this. I figure that if I run out of ammunition I won't have to sit so much so I'm going to just try and stay hydrated and see if all this will just pass, so to speak.
Wife has gone to the mountain park today with her after school program. Yes, the after school program is going during school. The original idea was to go to palerock park for an overnight trip but the superintendent nixed that idea after Wife spent much time working out the details. Then it was going to be an all day trip to the mountain park with stops at JH to visit some museums and art galleries. The "professionals" didn't want to take the time necessary to visit the museums and galleries because it would take extra time and would interfere with their lives outside school, such as going to a football game. So after Wife made all the arrangements to the museums and art galleries (several times I may add) she was told that the "bonding with the kids" would consist of driving on a bus for several hours up and back with a boat trip across the lake and a short hike with some dutch oven cooking thrown in. I agree with Wyo Sis that if you want to be treated like professionals and paid like professionals that maybe you should act like professionals and not like spoiled little brats that will only do the bare minimum to get by. That is just my opinion and not that of my sweet hard working very pregnant wife.
We said good by to our Jimmy yesterday. The junk man came and got it yesterday much to the delight of our neighbours I'm sure. It has been in our driveway all summer and was nonfunctional due to a lack of battery and alternator that the van needed instead. The last time I drove Jimmy he could only make about 40 miles per hour and I didn't have the time or money to try and fix it. There may have only been a small problem with it but it could have been rather extensive as well and it wasn't worth the trouble. Now we are down to four cars, three of which work to some extent. Linc is pressuring me to get Oggie (a Veedub "thing") going so he can drive it to school when he is old enough to drive which will be in two months (learners anyway). I will need perhaps some help from Wyo bro-in-law and some of my own time and money to get it going again.
Wife is going to "the friendly ghost town" on a "mandatory" after school conference this thur. and fri.. Then next week we are driving across the state to the very same town for her schooling. You would think that they could maybe have them at the same time so she only has to go there once but NOOOOO. I think it is an awful lot to ask of an eight month pregnant woman to run around like this but she seems determined to carry on like nothing special is going on.

#82 vs Jackson

Yesterday they had a game at Jackson and Wyo sis and I went up to watch. We got there about halfway through the first Quarter and watched as Jackson in the words of #82 "won for the first time in anything". That is in anything he played them. 7th and 8th grade football, basketball and track. One factor may have been that only 20 of the 38 players on the Jackson team were freshmen. The others were Sophomores (11) and Juniors (7) the lightest non freshman was 130# with five over 200#. Now #82 is no light weight at 180# but he is one of the heaviest on the team (Bill Hoopes' grandson (#68) at @170 and 5' 5" with no fat, being a major exception). the majority of the SV freshmen would need their pockets full of rocks to weigh more than 120#. I witnessed many good things being done by #82 such as two pass receptions for over 38 yards combined and a near reception along with several "HI, how ya doin'" tackles of the opposition. I talked with a lady from Jackson who was a true native (third generation) who was watching her grandson and we had a rather pleasant conversation although I couldn't but wonder if it would be so pleasant if we were winning. One of the fathers of a Jackson kid pointed out that #82 was a good basketball player and had given his kid a rather hard time when they competed against each other last year. He didn't realize that I was #82's dad at the time. A complement from your opponents when they don't know who's kid it is, is high praise indeed! We all (Linc, 'Nae and I) went and ate and then shopped for some supplies that SV just doesn't have then drove home. the score was 0-14 by the way.

Balliball

Yup, it's that time again. Church ball!
Holl had a "balliball" game tonight and they did really well considering the oldest one there was a Mia Maid and the youngest just turned twelve and they only had five players. Because of the time constraint and how things are scored they only ended up loosing by one point. Holl had a good time serving and was a good player over all. Wife refereed and the little boys played with their toy cars.

Sparky's sculpture

This is a turtle and a tree that Sparky made out of clay. Without any help I might add. G-man saw a candy dispenser in the bishops office and is now drawing plans for his own candy dispenser. We will see how it turns out.
