Wheels

Linc has a very generous uncle. At thanksgiving dinner my bro-in-law mentioned that he needed to get rid of his "old" car and his bro (another bro-in-law) said why don't you give it to Linc? Well there you go. It's a D0dge Insipid and this particular type of car is known for power train problems but, hey... it's free and it's enclosed. I'm not one to look a gift car in the transmission. I'm sure it will get kids the one and a half miles to school with a minimum of trouble and in the event of a catastrophic failure I know where the number is to the car undertaker. Sure it will cost license and registration, insurance and gas but what car doesn't? We are sure thankful for family and friends that look out for us and help a kid out who wants a bit more Independence. Thanks BB!

That's six home and ten+ away games. I hope they do well on the road. It looks like they are saving a bit on their road trips by going to Riverton one day and Casper the next and having Green River and Rock Springs on consecutive days. It also looks like feast or famine with the home games.

Scary parts of kid movies

I got to thinking the other day, while my kids were watching "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang", of all the really creepy or spooky parts in children's shows and I started to make a mental list of what I considered really spooky parts of movies. I also asked my kids and they contributed some also. Here is a list of what I can remember.

  • The flying monkeys in The Wizard of Oz
  • The Child Catcher in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
  • The boat ride in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
  • The drunk dream in Dumbo
  • The hyenas in Ricky (wife's entry)
  • The 'Bominable Snow man in Rudolf the Red Nosed Raindeer
  • The Ghost of Christmas Future in A Christmas Carol

Well, that's like I said, a partial list. I'm sure you can think of more. I just find it fastinating just what spooks a kid when grown up don't even realize it's happening.

Found 2 made 1

Today we did a little geocaching. We walked half a block to the first one then drove to Fairview for the other. We put a cache at the little park by the fair grounds. We are all mostly well here and Wife is very much relieved to have been released from her church job as YW president for the ward. She has been the president for over three and a half years. She loved the job but it was grinding her down until she had nothing left. Finely she told the bishop how long she had been in the job and said she would do it some more if that is what was needed but he must have felt that three and a half years was enough.

Great 2 B 8!

Sparky hit the big 0-8 yesterday. He was really looking forward to this birthday because he could have a pocketknife, go to cub scouts and ... oh yes, get baptized. The baptism is set for the first Saturday in December. He got lots of great presents including a pocketknife and real army helmets.

Seventeen years ago

The big guy turned Seventeen today. Fast Sunday is a bit of a drag as far as birthdays go.
