Order of succession
Sunday morning we got a phone call. Never a good thing in our house. It was Brother O. the Second Councilor in our Bishopric. He wanted to talk to Linc. He said that since the Bishop and the First Councilor were gone and the High Priest Group Leader was talking and the Elders Quorum president needed to be in the audience with his family (he has a mentally disabled kid) He needed the Teachers Quorum president (Linc) to sit beside him and help preside in the meeting. That meant that Linc sat beside the Second Councilor during the whole meeting and even got to run the speaker button and the podium height adjustment. How many fifteen year-oldes can say they helped preside at their church?

Derby time

G-man had his third Pinewood Derby last night. His pit crew did a poor job of putting on the wheels so it wasn't the fastest car in town. In the second picture you can see many interesting things. First off the car closest to you is G-man's you will note that the other car seems to be ahead of his. Unfortunately that was the case in all of his races. He was real good about it but you could tell it wasn't his best night. You may also notice in the picture a few things such as the popcorn spread all over the floor also you will note that all the kids are keeping back behind the checkered flag line and if you look close you will notice Sparky on the other side of the track enjoying his own popcorn. It snowed three inches in town last night I don't think Sulphertown is going to have lawn real soon.

Grappeling Sparkey

We just got back from Sparky's wrestling matches. They grouped the kids in fours and had them wrestle each other once. Sparky had the "privilege" of having the high school wrestling coach's son in his group. This is the coach that was awarded the coach of the year in our state for 4A. He fought a good fight but came up a little short on each match and was awarded the fourth place medal. He had a good time and got to run around with his buddies for about 45 minutes before the matches started so I think he had a good time. He has been wanting to be in a tournament for some time and doesn't like the practices as much as the matches. He doesn't know many moves but he does know to try to stay off his back and has learned the move to roll over when someone is on top of him. Once again I was treated to a display of parents living through their kids. I suppose I would be more into having him wrestle if my own experience with wrestling had been better. Sorry, no pictures but Wife thought I had the camera and I hoped that she would bring it. I don't know if we will go to any other tournaments because they are all several hours away and I can't see spending the time, money or effort to go. I also can't see spending $50. on a singlet and wrestling shoes that he would wear two or three times but there are lots of parents who don't have the slightest problem buying an outfit and traveling around the countryside going to wrestling tournaments "for the kids".
Middle school track starts Monday so Wife and Holl will be wrapped up in that until nearly Memorial day and high school track started last Monday so Linc is busy as well.
